Foundational Art
In my work, I like being able to inject touches of realism while remaining fairly stylized, especially with how I handle anatomy. This is obtainable through studying how things appear in the real world, where I've obtained a large amount of my knowledge during my foundational classes. In classes such as Figure Studies, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the human form and portraying how it differs between people. The results of these classes are displayed below, categorized between narrative projects and studies.

"Escapism: Self Portait" / 2025

This project was made as a presentation of a part of my life: the enjoyment of video games and the ability to escape into their worlds. My intent was for the viewer to interpret the figure as "not entirely there" through the absence of eyes and the moodiness set by the blue background. My process involved painting my paper blue with Gouache and then fleshing out my portrait through charcoal and eraser. Creating artworks with the method of erasing charcoal has been an enjoyable technique for me, so that's why I chose to use it throughout this piece.
"Return to Earth" / 2024

This piece was made to show the process of time with a life cycle as an example. I sequenced this as a fawn feeding on a mature mushroom while a deer skull sits nearby, representing the fate that all living beings will be subjected to in their life cycle. My process involved creating my idea digitally, tracing it with paper to imprint onto the linoleum, Then, I carved out what is left in white and rolled ink overtop to make paper prints.
